About Speakers
Prof. Chris Carr: Professor of Corporation Strategy
BA. (Cambridge); MA (Cambridge); PhD (Warwick).
Chris Carr has been Professor of Corporate Strategy at University of Edinburgh for some ten years, following 9 years leading Strategy at Manchester Business School. He also teaches Global Strategy at Moscow State University Graduate School of Business Administration and the University of Sao Paolo, having also taught at Warwick, Buckingham and Bath Universities in the U.K.; and in India, China, Turkey, Italy and in Germany as a visiting Professorship at Witten Herdecke University.  
Over the past 30 years he has carried out research on global strategy, comparing approaches to strategic decisions in some 300 companies in 22 countries. Each company has generally provided a single, deep decision case study, detailing the approach to strategic planning, the financial analysis and people decision-making aspects, paying particular attention to cultural differences. Journal articles on global strategy, strategic investment decisions and comparative approaches worldwide include the Strategic Management Journal, Management International Review, Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning and Management Accounting Review. He has published two books on Britain’s Competitiveness (1990) and Strategic Investment Decisions in Britain and Germany (1994).
Dr. Lin Liu (刘伶博士)
Lecturer in International Business, Edinburgh University.
BA (Shandong), MSc (Reading), PhD (Cambridge)
Research interests include emerging markets, outward foreign direct investment, technological spillovers, regional economic integration and development patterns in East Asia, Big businesses and MNEs from emerging economies. Author of China’s Industrial Policies and the Global Business Revolution, published by Routledge in 2005.
